This privacy policy applies to the Target Cartwheel program ('Cartwheel'). Cartwheel can be accessed via, the Target Mobile web site and the Cartwheel Mobile Application. What Information is Collected through Cartwheel?

Facebook Information

Target collects information when you interact with Cartwheel by logging in with your Facebook account. This information includes:

  • Your Facebook ID
  • Your Facebook profile picture
  • Your gender
  • Your age range
  • Your Friends' IDs
  • View of your stories on Facebook Information

Information Collected Automatically

We and our service providers use cookies and other technologies to collect certain information whenever you interact with Cartwheel. This information includes:

  • Android advertising ID or Apple Advertising Identifier
  • Information collected through your browser or device, such as device manufacturer and model, operating system name and version, App usage data, such as the date and time the App on your device accesses our servers , physical location of your device based on IP address or your connection to a wireless service.
  • Cartwheel user ID
  • Pages you visit on Cartwheel
  • The web address you came from
  • Your activities and use of the App
  • App performance information
  • Search queries you enter on Cartwheel

This information helps us recognize your device or computer to assist your use of Cartwheel, personalize your experience while using Cartwheel and make our marketing messages more relevant.

In order to provide the best guest experience possible, we also use this information for reporting and analysis purposes, such as how you are using Cartwheel, performance of our marketing efforts, and your response to those marketing efforts.

Third-Party Cookies

We allow third-party companies to collect certain information when you visit and use that information to customize your experience and make Cartwheel better. These companies use non-personally identifiable information (e.g., click stream information, browser type, time and date) and your barcode information during your visits to provide offers likely to be of greater interest to you. How is Your Information Used?

Target will use the information it collects to personalize the Cartwheel experience. In addition, Target will match the information it collects with information that already exists within Target's internal databases including your purchase history, your accounts across all Target channels (e.g., Gift Registries, Target mobile web site)

  • Send marketing communications and other information regarding products, services and promotions. For example, we might send you information about new discounts and special savings.
  • Utilize your list of friends to show you how your friends are interacting with Cartwheel when logged in with your Facebook account.
  • Link your Cartwheel information to existing Target information to enhance our marketing efforts to you.

Internal Operations

  • Link your Cartwheel information to existing Target information to personalize and improve your shopping experience
  • Improve the effectiveness of your Cartwheel experience, and marketing efforts
  • Conduct research and analysis
  • Perform other business activities as needed, or as described elsewhere in this policy

Fraud Prevention

  • To prevent fraudulent transactions, monitor against theft and otherwise protect our guests and our business

  • To assist law enforcement and respond to subpoenas. For example, to assist law enforcement and respond to legal/regulatory inquiries

How is Your Information Shared?


We share the information we collect from and about you within Target Corporation, which includes all Target subsidiaries and affiliates.

Depending on the privacy settings you select when first logging in to Cartwheel, action you take within Cartwheel, like adding an offer to your list of saving in store, will be published to your Facebook friends' news feed. For example, if you choose to share your Cartwheel activity with 'Only Me', the activity will generate to your Facebook timeline and only you will be able to view it. If you select 'Public', anyone viewing Cartwheel activity on Facebook will be able to see your activity.

Business Partners/Third Parties

We may share aggregate level information (information that does not identify you personally) with business partners/third parties who participate in the Cartwheel program to help them understand how their product offer(s) performed. We may also share aggregate level information with business partners/third parties for their own analytics, reporting, and other purposes.

Service Providers

We may share information with companies that provide support services to us or that help us market our products and services. These companies may need information about you in order to perform their functions.

These companies are not authorized to use the information we share with them for any other purpose.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose the information we collect from and about you when we believe disclosure is appropriate to comply with the law; to enforce or apply applicable terms and conditions and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property or safety of our company, our guests or others.

Elsewhere at Your Direction

At your direction or request, we may share your information. For example, if you add offers to your list as public when logged in with your Facebook account, your information will be published on Facebook and will be accessible to your friends. You have to option to customize the sharing of information from Cartwheel.

Business Transfers

If some or all of our business assets are sold or transferred, we may transfer the corresponding information regarding our guests. We also may retain a copy of that guest information.

What Choices Do You Have?


If you do not wish to receive promotional e-mails from Target, contact us or call 800-440-0680 to opt out. You may also opt out of receiving promotional e-mails by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each Target promotional e-mail messages.

Uninstalling the Cartwheel Application

  • If you are logged in with your Facebook account and no longer want to participate in the Cartwheel program, you can uninstall the application at any time. To do so, you must remove it from your Facebook account here; merely deleting it from your mobile device will not completely uninstall the application.
  • If you are logged in with your account and no longer want to participate in the Cartwheel program, you can uninstall the application within the Settings menu in Cartwheel.

California Residents

If you are a California resident and have an established business relationship with us, you can request a notice disclosing the categories of personal information we have shared with third parties, for the third parties' direct marketing purposes, during the preceding calendar year. To request a notice, please submit your request to Target Corporation, Attn: California Shine the Light Inquiry, P.O. Box 9350, Minneapolis, MN 55440. Please allow 30 days for a response.

Children's Personal Information

We recognize the particular importance of protecting privacy where children are involved. We are committed to protecting children's privacy. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information online from children under the age of 13. If a child under the age of 13 has provided us with personally identifiable information, we ask that a parent or guardian contact us or call 800-440-0680.

Security Methods

We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect your information. This includes encrypting your credit and debit card number.You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your personal information against unauthorized disclosure or misuse.

E-mail Security

"Phishing" is a scam designed to steal your personal information. If you receive an e-mail that looks like it is from us asking you for your personal information, do not respond. We will never request your password, user name, credit card information or other personal information through e-mail.

Your Consent

By using Cartwheel, you are consenting to our processing of your information as set forth in this privacy policy now and as amended by us. "Processing" means using cookies or using or touching information in any way, including, but not limited to, collecting, storing, deleting, using, combining and disclosing information. If you reside outside the U.S. your information will be transferred to the U.S., and processed and stored there under U.S. privacy standards. By using Cartwheel and providing information to us, you consent to such transfer to, and processing in, the US.
